Uniform quality assurance for heat measurements

Uniform quality assurance for heat measurements

NEN is supervising, on behalf of VertiCer B.V., the development of a Dutch Technical Agreement (NTA) on “quality assurance for heat measurements”.

The aim is to produce a document setting out requirements that clarifies and accelerates the current measurement and reporting system for the production of thermal energy.

The national government has mandated VertiCer to issue Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for thermal energy.

The NTA describes a Code of Good Practice that clarifies the reporting process and lays the foundation for further automation of the transmission of measurement values for GOs.

Impact in practice:

• Fewer errors and time savings thanks to a consistent approach to measurement and reporting.

• Faster, future-proof transmission of measurement values for the issuance of GOs.

• Reliable growth of the market for thermal energy (including homes, greenhouse horticulture, industry) with room for sources such as geothermal energy and biomass.

Want to participate?

Organisations from the heat chain that want to contribute are welcome. The starting point is quality assurance of the determination of net thermal energy production.

You can register in the next six weeks; the first meeting is on 19 November 2025.
Further information and registration details can be found here.
