Frequently asked questions
You can transfer GOs to the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa) for ERUs or ETS.
The NEa has a trading account within VertiCer. You can find this account in the VertiCer Trading Portal under the name “Nederlandse Emissieautoriteit”. In the reference field of the transaction, specify whether your transfer is intended for ERE or ETS.
After you transfer the GOs, the NEa will assess whether they meet their criteria. If the NEa determines that the GOs do not meet the criteria, they will return them to you—provided they are still valid. Expired GOs cannot be returned. If the GOs meet the criteria, the NEa will redeem them in VertiCer.
VertiCer only handles the transfer, not the substantive assessment.
If GOs expire during the assessment or do not meet the criteria, neither NEa nor VertiCer is responsible.
Always check the current criteria on the NEa website: www.emissieautoriteit.nl.
Users of GOs can use your certificates to prove that they are actually consuming renewable energy.
Additionally, you may need GOs to qualify for subsidies or to comply with other national obligations (such as Emission Reduction Units (ERUs), formerly Renewable Fuel Units for transport). For more information about these schemes, please refer to the Dutch Emissions Authority (NEa).
GOs are valid for one year from the production date. Please note: the end date of the production period may differ per country.
A list of accredited traders can be found in the ‘Traders Overview’ on our website under 'Downloads'.
No, only accredited traders can trade GOs. If you want to decide which parties receive your GOs, you can apply for a trader account with VertiCer and link yourself to your production installation. This membership involves an annual fee plus a transaction fee.
GOs are credited to your selected trader’s account no later than the following Saturday. The trader may receive them earlier.
