For traders of green gas
VertiCer is the institution in the Netherlands that issues Guarantees of Origin (GvO) and certificate of origin (CvO) for all sustainable energy carriers. A GvO is the only proof that energy has been generated in a sustainable way. A CvO is the only proof that electricity was generated from fossil sources. Both GvOs and CvOs can be traded. VertiCer is the central point for all matters relating to this certification.
A trader needs to be registered with VertiCer. On this page, you can manage all your business as a trader. We will be happy to help you on your way!
Green gas and green hydrogen registrations integrated into MyVertiCer platform by 1 July 2025
Registrations from 1 July 2025 via our new platform; MyVertiCer.
With effect from 1 July 2025, VertiCer has bundled all its activities relating to certificates of origin for electricity, thermal energy and green gas (including green hydrogen) in a single system, MyVertiCer.
Until then, green gas and hydrogen plants were registered in a separate application (formerly: the Vertogas platform).
The integration of all energy carriers into the same system means, in the case of green gas and green hydrogen, that production periods will be processed in our new MyVertiCer system from 1 July 2025. The new MyVertiCer will be the basis for all GOs issued from August 2025.
The new method of registration, viewing and/or submitting changes in the MyVertiCer platform, can be found below on the page.
Would you like to view, change and/or register data from before 1 July 2025?
The Vertogas platform will remain in operation for the issuance of GOs for production periods up to and including June 2025. You will use the Vertogas system for any corrections of metering data before August 2025 and trades and cancellations of GOs that are still in the former Vertogas system.

Trader
To be able to trade in GOs and CoOs, you register as a trader at VertiCer.
A producer itself selects a trader. When registering, you can indicate whether producers are allowed to choose you as trader. Or perhaps you already have a connection with a producer yourself.
Once GoOs or CoOs have been created, they will appear in your trader account. You can then trade them to European energy suppliers or other traders. The GoOs and CoOs can also be cancelled for end users or the NEa for HBEs. This takes place within VertiCer's trading portal.
To create a trading account, you pay an annual fee. In addition, monthly fees are charged for trading actions. You can find the specific fees here.
Who can become a trader?

Frequently asked questions
The manual can be found at Downloads.
For electricity and thermal energy GoOs/CoOs:
As a trader, you debit the deployed certificates from your account and mark these certificates as used.
You do this via VertiCer's trading portal. The manual for the trading portal can be found under 'Downloads'.
You are not allowed to actively write off Guarantees of Origin for use in the future. Only when you, as a trader, have accidentally cancelled too many Guarantees of Origin, you may allocate the surplus to a period in the future, but only after consultation with and approval by ACM. In this context, a cancelled Guarantee of Origin may not be allocated to the consumption period beyond the date on which the relevant Guarantee of Origin would have expired and a cancelled Guarantee of Origin may not be transferred to another trader.
You can deregister your trading account by sending an e-mail to our Servicedesk, at [email protected].
In this e-mail, please indicate which Account holder ID your request relates to and the date by which the trading account can be deregistered.
Please note that the end date can be set to the 1st day of the following month at the earliest.
Rates can be found here.
Please note!!! Due to the new tariffs 2024, the tariff for the "Creation of GvO Thermal and Electricity" on the invoice has been harmonised with Green Gas and Hydrogen. As a result, the rate for all energy carriers per GvO will be €0.010 in total being €0.005 for creation and €0.005 for transfer to the trader.
